I have been using my new 30D for about 2 months now and am loving it!

Unfortunately, I dropped the camera and it cracked the LCD screen at the back. The LCD is working OK and the camera can still take photos. I think all that is broken is the clear plastic screen on the back.

Can anyone recommend somewhere I can go to that will not charge me a fortune to fix it?

Thanks!

Jake

Jake,

Sorry to hear that you dropped your camera. I know I would just die. I don't have mine yet but I can't only imagine what was going thru your head when it hit the ground. I would try maybe Wolf camera & video. They might want to charge you to fix it but they might be able to look at it and tell you if nothing else is wrong. If you live in a small town as I do here in Arkansas, they might fix it for you for free if you have a photo shop that is private owned and not a chain store. I hope that helps. Seek out private owned shops. They can charge or not charge at will.

Good luck and happy photo shooting!

Thanks for your suggestion NatureGirl but I am based in the UK so I think posting my camera to the USA would be prohibitively expensive (not to mention the extra pollution it would cause to send an SLR the best part of 10,000 miles there and back!).

I am getting by still without fixing it because the camera still works. Sometimes it struggles in low light so I do wonder if there is a bigger problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions for companies in the UK that fix cameras?

Thanks!
