Hi there,

I am an amateur photographer who is SURRONDED by pregnant women and newborns!  I have been happily snapping away and am getting some OK pictures with editing, however I would really love to be able to replicate those wonderful black and white images of the professionals.

I really love the beautiful soft lighting with strong shadows.  Can anyone point me in the direction of where I might find some guidance on how to do this?  I have done a couple of web searches, but not turning up much.

Thanks for your help!

OK, if you love the soft lighting, are you using a softbox? the larger the better to wrap the mother and/child in a soft light. You keep the light soft and low key have a black background and block out any odd reflections, then bring out the shadows in post process.

It is an art, but you do need the right approach and the tools to make it work.
