I own a digital rebel and noticed the same problem never befor using the lens completly closed I notice the dust spots covering the cmos. Using an idea from another cleaning co. I used a lint free lens cloth (dissposable after use) and wraped it tightly around a3/4" liquitex brush wich I have been using for years on my film canon for all dust removal never having any issues. I gently with a little presure rubed the ccd screen changing cloths four times testing inbetween each and found the spots dissapearing. After the last time #4 the screen was completely dust free. Test using white paper 50mm f1.8 set at f22 shutter 60 with flash.
I mostly do portraite work and never realy close the lens down that far but it was a good idea to chek to much more dust would have coused a problem with other settings as well.

Its wonderful to know that the camera is excellent when working i wish it keeps going that way for you for along long time . What lens r u using ? And whats the maximun stop down achievable with it ? i,e whats the smallest aperture setting f16,22.,32. Does it have a mirror lock and depth of field preview function . cheers

I found this answer on line, and it is working for me.
http://www.photo.net/equipment/digital/sensorcleaning/
I used the blower technique. Now I am going to find a better blower for the last spots.

My change was that, I inverted the cammera so the dust fell out after blowing.

As a Professional Press Photographer, using the EOS 20D, my advice to everyone reading the negative posts on this forum, is not to panic!
I have been using my 20D bodies for the past 18-months, and I can honestly say that I have been really impressed with their performance under all conditions and in all weathers.
If you are thinking of buying one, I would unhesitatingly recommend them. After all, who really expects to be shooting at apertures of f/22 and smaller, for most assignments - certainly not me, unless I am working for an extreme depth-of-field effect, which such small apertures afford.
So don't be put off by these technical arguments. The proof of the camera's success lies in the photographs which are produced with it.
And I only have praise for the versatility of this superb camera.
Regards,
GEORGE GREEN
