So I wear a silver ring all the time, and I usually remember to take it off when processing film. However! Yesterday I had to get my hands dirty (pun intended) with a persnickety 4 x 5 tank and got developer and fix all over my hands. Before too long I remembered my ring and took it off, only to find a burn-looking welt on my finger where my ring was. This has happened to me once before. It usually scabs like a normal burn then sloughs off in a week or two, but I was hoping for a more immediate course of action. Some advice besides "Don't develop with a silver ring on" would be helpful. Thank you!

Quite apart from reacting with your jewellery, some of these darkroom chemicals are toxic and/or caustic so you probably want to avoid spillage onto your skin anyway. Perhaps wearing latex or nitrile surgical gloves is worth exploring.
