I need to convert many cartridges of APS negatives to digital files.  Lots of websites exist for companies who can scan these negatives and charge per image.  What is the best way? Should I buy some type of negative scanner myself (which can handle these 24 mm ones)?  If so, what kind?  If using a service, which ones are reputable?  With the volume of negatives I have, I do not think this pricey option will be the best choice, but I'm not sure.  How can I do this efficiently??  THANKS!

bluedispatcher - You can do it yourself with no problems with a desktop scanner or a negative scanner - what it really comes down to is time and what are you using them for - if you are archiving them with no intention of doing much then doing them yourself is a good idea as you are just using your time to scan them - but if you need to clean them up color correct them etc because you are going to make prints or build a website with lots of images or maybe have a bit of a deadline then it would be worth it to get a photo scanning service to do them in bulk - they'll have the gear to do batch scan and color correct them quickly - from there you can then tweak them to suit - i find time is my shortest resource when it come to these things

can't recommend one but do some searches and maybe give some of what you come up with a try by sending them a roll - always worthwhile doing a test run with any service where possible
