    Contest Suggestions Please

To try and be as inclusive as possible I'd like to get some feedback on the sorts of contests you may like on photography-gallery.com.

I already have a few in mind but it would be great see hear about what you would like to see happen also - so here is your chance.

If there are many suggestions i will post a poll and we can have a vote off.

Some of you may of noticed that the "Most Popular Images" have changed i have tweaked way they are selected now its based on ratings and the number of views rather than just the number of views which tended to cause the same images to get seen more and more and they then obviously remain more popular - too self selecting - i am sure you will all appreciate this change.

I have also been interviewing photographers for photographysites.com there is an interview by underwater photographer Alex Mustard in which he gives some of his interesting background and some tips for underwater photography.

Please use the social bookmarks for stumbleupon Digg del.icio.us etc they really help get people to read articles - but also please remember to do this for photography-gallery.com - it can really get many more new people to the site to see you images.

Finally i will be updating Photography Gallery sometime this year I had hoped to do this during the break but the final version of the software update for the script which runs the site isn't finished this will happen soonish i hope - it should add a few more dimensions to the site which i am very excited about.

I hope you all had a good xmas / new year break and i look forward t seeing all those pciture taken during your holidays.

    regards Tony

    Contest Subjects

I was thinking of three ideas: "A Small World" The world of the micro/macro but I'm sure someone would have other great ideas. "The Aging World" lots of great photo should come from a subject like that. "Worst Conditions" Photographs taken under adverse conditions. Those times when you wished you had stayed home but were able to get that once in a lifetime photograph because went anyway.

I think, being winter maybe " The frozen world " might be a good topic for a contest.
Or " Winter Glory" I'm sure there are lots of us out there shooting this beautiful season.

How about a contest with photos of live performances?
For example: Rock concert, Dance recitals, or orchestral performances
Shooting live performances is interesting because most times you can't use a flash and have to use existing lighting.

Smile A new contest I just found out about

    Hi,

I just joined and I wanted to post something about a new photo contest my friend entered- its on Sosauce.

You post a picture from a trip you've taken with a tip about traveling, and whoever is picked as the best one gets a Jet Blue gift certificate. There's also some runner-up prizes. You have to join the site to enter, but its super easy. It only took me a few minutes, and you can post your trip in a really cool way.

    Anyway, it seemed pretty cool.
    -syd
