Looking to buy a new lens

I am fairly new at this and I am looking to buy a new lens to do indoor shoots (newborns, children, family stuff like that) Im not sure which one to buy. A few friends told me to look at the Tamron AF 28-75mm f/2.8 SP and at the 50mm 1.4 Lens any input would be great. Or even post some pictures if you have used these lens. I want to know which one would work best for me before i go putting lots of money into this.

  2. Get the 50mm 1.8 not the 1.4. The cost is too significant for you to spend right now. I do a lot of great things with that lens. Once you get your time and money's worth out of it you can look into an 85mm.

I was going to ask 2 questions, you answered one so far, the second question is: What is your budget or how much are you willing to pay?

Yes i have to agree with tareq. In order to give you good advice we need to know what price range your working with.
