The Anhinga swims underwater and "spears" its fish with its pointed bill. It than must "toss" the fish in the air, orient it, and swallow!

The bird must then find a place to "hang out' and dry its wings, because the feathers have no oil, to repel the water. The wings would be saturated and the bird would drown!

The surprising thing, about this unusual bird, is the awkward behavior on the ground, the agility in the water, and to watch it fly with grace.
